The single cylinder vertical dieselectric Witte is the AD. I have an exploded view and parts list for the 4 HP engine. If you would like a copy send me your address.

Witte made two vertical versions of Witte engines.
Model AD, 1200/1800 rpm, 3.75/6.55 hp, 31/4 x 41/2 bore & stroke, 16:1 compression ratio.
Model LD, 1350 rpm, 8.6 hp, 41/4 x 51/4 bore & stroke, 16:1 compression ratio.
Both engines were avaliable as Power units or Dieselectric units.

Oh yes, Witte also manufactured a Marine version called the VM-59.
1200 rpm, 9 hp.41/4 x 51/4 bore & stroke, 17:1 compression ratio.
With reverse and reduction gears avalable in 2:1 and 3:1 ratios.

Hope this helps.

I believe this is a Witte vertical diesel, pictures taken at Portland at the 2004 show:

Nice pictures Harry!
I have yet to hear one of these run. I saw a horizontal at Mount PLeasant, Ia. for a couple of years now but never get to see/hear it run. Do they sound like a Thermoil??
I enjoy your site with sound samples for your engine collection.

There are a couple of larger ones in a local scrapyard with DC gensets. They used to use them to power the magnets. Sounded like a gun going off the owner said! Massive castings too.

Which scrapyard would that be? Anywhere near the lower mainland?

On the Island Stan. I don't think the engines would be much use except for parts with the in-frame DC generators.

Drop me a line if you want more info.
