Default What is it?

Wife's ex-sister-in-law gave this item to her to give to me. The base is about a foot square. When turned on, the bottom gets quite hot to the touch, the top warm.
Don't know if this is the proper place to post this, but I'm wondering if someone can tell me what this thing is.

Could be an old vulcanizing iron.Used to use one in a shop I worked in back in high school. When a tube had to big a hole for patching We'd use it to bond the rubber to the tube. Our's was oval shapeed with a lid like a waffle iron but your's would do the same thing.( I think)?

Grub, I dunno...........it doesn't seem to get hot enough to vulcanize rubber. You can't hold your hand on it for a ten-count, but it's not sizzling hot either.

Jeff, send the $2 and I'll send you the iron, C.O.D.

2-3
Min. If it does not softoen the tile in that time period, leave it ot on a little longer. Depends on the heating unit and the composition of the tile.

If you're in management... you could turn it up-side-down, weld some legs on it and a back and some arms; and have the original employee "hot-seat". (sure hope my boss does't know about this web site).
