I just acquired a pump with the name "Peters Pump Co. Kewanee Ill." cast into it -- assuming its a water pump of some sort--intended to be driven by a flat belt. Well actually there are 2 belt pulleys mounted side by side. This in turn drives a gear train and creates a reciprocating action at the pump cylinder. Anyone have any info on this brand ?? Thanks for any info you may have...

Do you have any pictures of it? It probably works and looks about the same as most of the other piston pumps that are around. The most popular ones seem to be the Myers bulldozer pumps. I believe one pulley doesn't actually drive the pump and was used for starting and then the belt was pushed to the other pulley to run the pump. Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong.
Here is a picture of my Deming piston pump. http://www.freewebs.com/mikesoldengi...e/deming_2.jpg |
