The HV Auction ended earlier this year, but checking out took longer than usual, due to changes made at the auction this year
. I met a few Stak buddies there, and although the weather looked threatening at first (rain all nite, up to a couple of hours before the auction began) the day turned out to be beautiful! Here are some engine and tractor prices I noted. As I was working for the auction, I did not get to see all the action, but here are the ones I did note:2 HP United - early, some welds, no comp. $700 4 HP Detroit Eng Works, 1 wrong flywheel (late) $700 3 HP McCormick Deering 'M' on saw rig $700 2 HP Detroit Eng Works with pump display (early) nice $1000 6-S Hercules (local known engine) fine original cond. $900 2 HP Stover K-A replacement crank guard (best buy) $400 Friend engine-pump combo, painted, possible crank issue $1700 1 1/2 HP IHC 'M', Over shot igniter, older restoration $800 2HP DomesticSideshaft with mud pump (all there, free) $2500 Maytag 92 single (turns stiff) long frame $125 Maytag 92 single (free-nospark) long frame $140 1 1/2 HP Fairbanks Morse Z running good original paint $700 2 HP Witte good paint - should run $425 3 HP Novo turns stiff - possible crank issue $700 6 HP FM Plug Oscillator Eng, apart, slightly rusty (good project) $55 Unknown HP early united on mudsucker pump (rough - budted rod and piston) $75 Here are some tractor prices too: Ford 960 (drove in) $1950 IHC Farmall Super M (running) $2200 Case CC (restored) $1900 John Deere H (brush painted,) $2000 IHC Farmall Cub $2000 IHC Lowboy Cub (yellow - large tractor) $1025 IHC Farmall F-12, (no mag, weld repairs on engine and frame) $630 IHC Cub-Cadets-from like new to junk-parts ( there must have been about 15 or more on the field) various prices - from no sale to $550 There were also about 50 other riding mowers, garden tractors, too many to keep track of prices. In all about 1700 items hit the block, 12 full rows on the field. This year, there was no 'Good engine and tractor' row. All items were mixed on the field.2 auction wagons as usual, with an 8 AM start. Good food as usual, the club hopes to have the new kitchen up and running by the show in October. See you next year! Andrew

Andrew: Thanks for the pricing. Glad I stayed at home and worked on my 68 Bonneville Convertible (Peter R.). A little tune up, put on some radial tires (FREE & like new
), top down, looked at engines, went for a short cruse, watched the gas gauge go down -AHhhh what a life .

I forgot one item of interest that went on the block at the auction:
One - off the shelf fresh, factory sealed - full, One gallon can of Maytag engine oil The can had nearly pristine clean white paint, good clean bottom, only slight surface rust in spots on the top. It looked nearly factory fresh. It went for $100. If only I had another $50 in my pocket Andrew

I was pretty happy with myself going all the way up to $100 for the Maytag can since I was the auctioneer on that row. I love the whole auction experience

Andrew,
Nice recording of prices, I wish I stuck around for that 6 HP Fairbanks, but I left at 5 PM and it still was way back there. Here's a couple prices I remember: Bolens Garden Tractor with Briggs Model P $480 Moto Mower With Briggs Model A engine $250 (no compression, I am not sure about spark, missing air cleaner and choke elbow) 1 1/2 HP Fairbanks Morse ZA (original paint, AB33 mag, missing crank guard and pulley, running) $475 1915 Fairbanks Headless (real early style tag missing pulley, unique crank) $600? |
