Default IHC 6hp Mogul on a saw cart?

Would a IHC 6 HP Tankless Mogul have ever been installed on a saw truck? from factory that is... if not would it be "improper" to present it on a saw truck. the engine has a clutch pulley.

i just got an engine, on a saw truck home , but wondering about how to proceed with project.

Thanks Fellows.

By tankless do you mean hopper cooled? If it is hopper cooled I H C built hundreds of 6 HP hopper Mogul saw rigs.

Altough I have never seen a live 1 the sales lit does show a tank cooled mogul on saw trucks.Usaully its a bigger 1 (8 or 10). The saw trucks I believe were all made at the Milwaukee works( where the Famous/Titan engines were built)along with the plain trucks. The saw trucks are different than the regular type trucks as the engine is mounted the other way.For example the plain trucks the head end is on the non pivoting axle and the saw truck the head end is on the pivoting. I would imagine that IHC would have built any combination of engine/saw truck if the buyer wanted it.Rob

Thanks for the information, this IHC saw truck has a metal seat on an upright flat spring on the left side of the frame rails along with a cast bracket for a foot rest (also to the left of center). all the photos i saw on the net last night show a elevated full bench seat with a full width foot rest. is there anyplace you know of that i might get a photo of what you described? Thank You. would it be proper to tank cool or screen cool? sorry, i know nothing of moguls, but will have to learn fast. Thanks

HMMM, Thank You, thats pretty much my truck except mine is longer, has IHC saw bolted off rear, and has the zig zag wheel hubs front and back and of course mine has a nice thick coat of rust. Might you think a mogul would have ever been offered on such a rig? Thanks for any help.

I don't know for sure if IHC sold Moguls on saw rigs but most companies would build anything to order if it meant a sale. Here are a couple of pics of a mate cutting wood with his 6hp Mogul.

It occured to me to ask if your Mogul came on the saw cart or you are putting together your unit? The pic that Patrick L posted of the Famous/Titan would most likely be the right cart for your Mogul. The saw setup bolts to the channels.Do you have the screen cooler tank? Also IHC offered 2 types of saw tables sliding or pivoting. They also had what they called a "Pole saw" type set up which has a flywheel on the pulley end of the arbor which is rather large. It interferes with putting the wood on the table the normal way. Someone else has to hold up the other end in mid air while the sawer feeds the table. I have 1 like that which is a sliding type it has always confused me that they would make such a set up. Maybe someone has the answer. Rob

I purchased engine and truck with saw from an older collector. he purchased the two seperately, but had planed to mount the mogal on the saw/truck. I would also like to do the same but want to know if it "correct" to do so. the saw i have has the large flywheel you mentioned with pivoting table. i do not have the cooling tank or screen (would like to know which it should be) i do not know which direction the engine would have been mounted or fuel tank details....i know nothing really....except that i feel obligated to get the engine restored and running so that the seller may see it before too long. I want to do justice to the engine but also am pressured to get along with the project.

is the cart width right for the engine? If it's a Famous truck it will be too wide for the Mogul.Sam Harman is the man to talk to about the cooling tank and it's frame. He has a 6hp tank cooled portable. When we say Tank cooled or screen cooled we are talking about the same tank. It's a box with a piece of 1/4" opening mesh rabbit wire formed at an angle that the cooling water drips onto.Rob
