I've used 50-1 mix in all my 2 cycle motors for years, never had a problem.Even in an old scott atwater from the 50's. I have an 1965 evinrude 28hp that's been running fine since we got it 35 years ago with this mix.Of course I've had to redo the carb, point's condenser ect..but it should be fine at 50-1

Also make sure there is no water in the lower unit, fill it with 80-90 gear lube from the bottom plug till it comes out the top plug.Check it everytime you use it as it's old and may leak. Those gears are expensive and hard to get sometimes. If it's leaking you can get a seal kit from napa or a marine store by where you live.If there is no seal kit's avaiable anymore I've taken the seals out and went to the part's store with them and shaft sizes-hole dementions, and they match them up! Good luck! Tom
