Default Information on Water Motors?

I recently acquired a "water Motor" -- it's marked "1900 Water Motor Pats. Pending". The impellor wheel is about 8" in diameter.

Can any of our more learned members point me at a source of information about water motors? I haven't encountered much on the internet-- but I am confident some SmokeStak'r can point me in the right direction.
