Default Need help with Onan engine

Hello to everyone, I'm new here and need help getting my Onan engine running. The engine I have is on a Gravely garden tractor, it's 12 hp model # NB-MS/2167A. The problem I have is no spark at all. The alternator lead wire that hooks on to the ignition stator reads negative voltage when the engine is cranking, and no positive voltage is coming from the spark plug cable. The rotor has a good magnetic pull. Is there a way to test the ignition stator and the stator alternator. I have the manual on the engine but there is no information on trouble shooting. The part #s are 191D769 for the stator alternator, and 160C1125 for the ignition stator. I would appreciate any help I can get, I want to restore this unit if at all possible.
Thank You
Chuck

Chuck:

I can't move this post for you, but there is a section on Smokestak for Old Generators, with a sub-section for Onan engines and generators. It's down the bottom of the main Smokestak menu page.

If Harry hasn't moved this for you, suggest you post it to that section so the guys who have Onan knowledge can help you out.

Peter
