Default Dunn Diesel Engine

Has anyone ever seen or have information about a Dunn diesel engine. This is not a marine engine, but a stationary horizontal engine. Mine is about 10 HP.

Doesn't ring a bell over here in the UK, but there were a lot of rebadged engines going round in the early days.

Can you give us any more info please? HP, water or air-cooled, a picture would be useful if you can arrange it.

Doug,
Yes, it was made under the Hvid patents. Alan King's advertisement volumes have at least one ad for them & Wendel's American Gasoline Engines page 142. 10 hp is pretty rare!

This is helpful information, thank you very much.

I may be off by a horse or two on the HP. I'll verify with my father, but I'm pretty sure its 7 or more. (I spent much of my spare time working on these engines while I was growing up but it's amazing how the memory goes after a few years). My father has owned it for many years and despite having restored dozens of engines, we never restored (painted really) the Dunn for lack of good information on the color, but it is complete, original and running. It is water cooled by a tank suspended above the engine. There is no water pump, it relys on natural circulation. It is a side shaft with the governor weights attached directly to the shaft.

We run it often, most recently to power a hay bailer. Unfortunatley the Dunn is in Iowa and I now live in Virgina, but I'll take some pictures when I travel home. Thanks for the feedback. I've always liked this engine and believe it is the most interesting in the collection, but it runs at a relative high RPM and is loud, so is more interesting to watch it work than to have it sitting in a line of other engines so we never showed it much.
