Default Whitte 5 X 8 hp?

Hello all, I'm yet another newb, having lurked for months and being new to old engines, I, of course have many questions. I'm thinking of buying a Witte diesel generator, the owner knows less about it then I do, its a horizontal 5" bore with an 8" stroke, rated at 720 rpm. Any idea what hp this unit may be, and what its kw output may be. Its got the Witte cast gen base, but I have no info re the gen output. Please help. In the meantime I'll press on with getting my 9hp Z up to snuff. Thank you all in advance.
I've cross posted to the Generator section as well.

You have one of two Witte Dieselectric units.

Model MD: On this engine the valve springs are not covered.
Model CD: This engine has a valve cover.

The Witte MD is the earlier version of the CD engine.

There is a Witte Horizontal CDRC model listed with 5" bore and 8" stroke, weight of the engine alone is 1615 lbs, hp is 12 @ 720rpm.

That would run to 7.5kVA or maybe 8kVA.

They list a 10kVA electric plant, using that engine but that would need to run at a higher speed to develop the extra power required.

Information from the 14th Ed Diesel Engine Catalog.

Thank you David and Peter, can you suggest a book that has the specs as well as pictures to help identify engines in the future. Thanks again for your expert help.
