Heating element for a empire No.32


I am trying to rebuild a empire no.2 stationary steam engine which is mine for my grandson and need...

Question Heating element for a empire No.32

I am trying to rebuild a empire no.2 stationary steam engine which is mine for my grandson and need and heating elemnet for it where do i look?

You could try Grainger. they sell heat guns and have a parts division for everything they sell. Their heat guns have an industrial heat coil that might fit .Its about the right size Good Luck

Ron, if you carefully dismantle it you will see it is made of a ni-chrome wire or band wrapped around sheet mica. I took mine apart until I could see the break, and folded the broken ends at the burned spot around each other to complete the circuit again. I then re-wrapped it, and now it works ok again. They still sell the wire, and the sheet mica, but it's getting pretty hard to find. McMaster-Carr may have some or may be able to locate it for you. If you do re-wrap it, be sure it doesnt short out against the boiler. Good Luck!
