Default Need help on Maytag 92

Just bought my first Maytag, but haven't been able to make it run yet.I cleaned out the gas tank, then checked for spark had none.I sanded points and magnets ,got fire thru plug wire but not at plug.Put in a new Autolite 3095 plug, grounded plug , now I have spark! I sprayed starting fluid in plug hole just knowing it had to fire but nothing.Compression sounds ok,carbs been cleaned, fuel plus spark should make noise. What should I check next? Thanks for any help Mark

Remove plug, and put an ounce of oil in cylinder and spread it around.
Also, rotate the crank a couple times, see if the compression feels better.
Put about 10 drops of gas into the cylinder and replace the plug.
Try again, if it pops then you know the compression was weak. You may have to completely de-carbon everything. Remove the piston, clean and inspect the rings. Make sure the ports are all completely clean.

Exclamation Re: Need help on Maytag 92

DO NOT USE ETHER (starting fluid) It will wash lubrication off rings, and if it gets past rings, can lead to an explosion within the case itself
Mix fuel @ 16:1 (1/2 cup non-detergent oil to a gallon of gas). Fill Tank to bottom of threads on tank plug. Remove spark plug, ground plug wire, and kick engine over, with fuel needle in full open position. After 3 or 4 kicks, you should smell fuel at the plug mount. If you smell no fuel, remove mixer, by removing the 4 brass screws, and gently tapping with a plastic mallet. Once removed, check to see if there is liquid fuel within the engine crankcase. Check fuel inlet check valve, and passages. Check to see if the air inlet check is free, and operating freely. Make sure the screen on the fuel inlet is clean, and open. Be sure the gasket is in it's proper position, when replacing mixer, and that there are no air leaks between the base, engine block, and the mixer body. Make sure the lead washers seal completely, under the screws. ith engine should start @ full open fuel, within 3 or 4 kicks. If it does not start, close fuel, and kick over several times to clear. Once engione is running, needle should be roughly straight up, if there are no other issues. When kicking over with plug out, you should hear a definate "kachung" sound, as the transfer port opens and allows fuel and ari from the crankcase, enter the cylender, as the engine turns. If the plug is flooded with fuel, replace it, as fuel will convey current, under compression (the plug will short out under compression).
