Default Maytag Upright Date Code Identification

Hi,

I bought a Maytag upright engine two weeks ago at an auction. It is a battery coil version and appears to be complete and unmolested. It has a fair amount of Maytag geeen paint on it yet, whether it is original green paint or it was repainted somewhere alone the line is unclear. Where do I find the serial number to determine its age. The only number I can find is a casting number on the bottom side of the base. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Jim Metzger

Jim,

The serial number should be stamped on the rim of the flywheel. If it was repainted it may be very difficult to see they were sometimes stamped very lightly.
