I am wondering on this engine if the casting numbers will help identify it, all parts are marked with a number after the letter " K " . Doesnt Stover use this as casting numbers as well.??

There were several of these. Some were "mirror images" exactly the same but everything was opposite.
US Motors Falcon Gray Model "O" Universal OK Maybe more... There were also mag and timer options. Some had a timer to use a model "T" coil, some a Wico like yours and some with a rotary mag if I remember correctly Hope this helps Ernie |

I don't suppose anyone would know where one could obtain literature or perhaps a manual for these falcon marine engines.?

It would appear these Falcons are a rare brute as I have not been able to locate much info on them, If anyone has a manual or such they would be willing to copy or sell , I would love to hear from them.

I just got done restoring an engine that looks exactly like that. It was manufactured by U.S. Marine and was marketed under the name Falcon I believe. I only found a small amount of literature on the engines. It seems if I remember correctly the single cylinder made 5 H.P. while the twin made 10 (go figure). If you are interested in the small amount of info I have found I would be glad to share it. Just e-mail.
Another interesting fact is these engines used Ford Model "T" connecting rods, pistons, rings, valves and springs. I guess they were readily available and were cheep. I do not think they were known for being fantastic engines. The did not have the reputation of Palmer or Lathrop. One other helpful hint learned the hard way. I had a sleeve installed in my engine due to a bad spot on the cylinder wall. The bottom piston ring comes to the VERY BOTTOM of the cylinder. The first sleeve was installed just a little short and when the engine turned over the bottom ring popped out and the engine stuck. Had to remove everything and re-sleave. What is that they say about experience being the best teacher. Anyhting I can do let me know. Jeff hitandmiss@verizon.net |

And here is an old original ad for a 1937 Falcon marine engine.. http://ebay.com/Falcon-Marine-Engine Also do a search on this... "United States Motors Corp" because here is a link with a picture to an engine with that name and it looks simular to yours.... http://www.oldmarineengine.com/discu...es/1/1007.html <---This one has a generator mounted to it... Hope this helps... |
