Hi Phillip,

Sounds like you have a "bug" Adware on your system.
I have no problem with a download nor is any needed for this site.
Hope you don’t have an "anti spam" proggy that’s really a spam generator.
Plenty of that going around and blocking there concurrence spam but "killing" you with there spam.

Phil...go to RUN and type in msconfig.
The last tab is the STARTUP tab...click on it to see what all is loading at startup.
I will GUARANTEE that QUICKTIME is running as well a BUNCH of other crap.
ANYTHING you do not NEED running in the background should be disabled.
You'll probably find Realplayer and others as well.........if there is something there you do not recognize disable those too. You can always re-enable them.
All you really NEED are your desktop settings, antivirus and possible monitor display application, such as Adobe gamma loader, or something similar.

By the way..........I would recommend EVERYONE do this!!!!!!!!!! You can't IMAGINE how all that junk will slow a computer.

Every computer is different Toolman.........
You should be able to figure out which ones are related to your antivirus...for example if you using Norton, anything named NAV should be left enabled.....and so on.
You're antivirus is the ONLY one you really NEED running in the background.
Just because something is NOT RUNNING in the background sucking up resources does NOT mean it's not there when you NEED it...WHATEVER it might be.

Regarding the items in your startup list:
If you don't KNOW what's what...........and you WON'T know ALL of them.............Google them to find out. If it's not something you HAVE to have running ALL THE TIME..........antivirus for example.............remove it from the startup list.
When you install Quicktime or Realplayer or almost ANYTHING you can almost BET it's gonna show up in the startup list and suck RAM like the IRS.
Get rid of them.
Just because they don't sit there sucking resources doesn't mean it's not available when you NEED them............
