About the Harrison Jumbo (The Princess) pictured above - I was told that the half scale model of it went to the UK a few years ago. Has anyone seen the model lately either in the US or UK ?

Steve,
Great pics. The Reeves in the first picture is the one that I ran this year. It is a 32-132 Reeves Canadian Special. We put her on the brake and pulled 135 compound and 145 single before she threw the belt. One of my good friends has pics of the Reeves Saturday night having a spark show. I will try to get them posted. The fire pump is owned and operate by the members of the Chariton Volunteer Fire Dept. I had the personal pleasure of being on the end of the nozzle while the unit was pumping. There is a video of this event but it will not be availible til Oct. or Nov.

Glad to see SOMEONE with SOME brand of engine put it on the brake to see what she'd do.........did the 110 Case ever get on the belt? Then you could have really had a Case/Reeves rumble!!!!!!

(Standing back from the brushpile as I'm throwing on gasoline!!!!! Or is that poking the hornet's nest with a sharp stick????????)

Mr. Barr - that Harrison engine is a real gem. That is the kind of machine you could look at and study all day. Lots of neat features - great photos. How many of those old queens exist today?

Were you doing the spark show with the Reeves last yr Pup? It was a goodn too. I have video of the spark show from 2002 at Mt Pleasant with four engines going at it. It was really good too.

Pup437,

You look too clean to have been running that 32 very long! ....even with the covers, ours likes to throw oil! Our shirts are rather pocked with oil spots!

Beautiful sparkshow. Ours put on a glorious show in honor of my Dad at Wauseon this year also.

Glad to see you pulled the old girl too!....now if we can get one of that other brand out of retirement......

Beth

Mike,
My opinion (being side by side with the 110 Case). When the Reeves starts to growl, everyone move out of her way. The Reeves can out pulled the Case on the sled. She can bark louder. Move softer amd easier. The only thing the Case has is height and width.

Yes you did have a great spark show Beth. When you simple those 32's, they just about suck the grates out of the fire box. And that makes for heavy duty sparks when you have about a truck load of sawdust "simmerin".

Beth.
I was some what clean that day (Friday). Saurday you should have seen me. We had a side brace in the firebox break. So I climbed into the firebox (I am 6'4" and 215# not an easy task) and pulled grates out to repair the side brace. Take a guess what I looked like when I was done.

I have to thank my good friends John and Dalene Deck for taking pics of the Reeves (and me). Also, P. Morgan for the steam fire pump.

Like an engineer?!?!?

We always joked that that firebox is so big you could do a barn dance or have a card party in it!

Just convince them to put the extensions back on!...I know it won't fit through the door, but sure does increase the footprint & presence of her!

Fraquhar,

The 32 throws chunks in addition to the sparks! Rol was have a time opening the door because of the suction.

Glad you enjoyed the show. It meant a lot.

The extensions are on a sign in the SE corner of the grounds. I would love to do that, but unfortunately she will not fit in the museum doors.

Beth,
Is your canopy canvas or metal? Ours is a very hole canvas from the spark shows.

I believe it is galvanized steel. Hoffmasters did theirs with the "tar & chip" method, but ours is pretty much maintenance free. I noticed that Mt Pleasant's is "tar & chip."
