Default Any Killer Models Out there

I am looking for a really killer model, fairly large and very exotic. My favorite practical project model was a double acting horizontal. St marys I belive. I wonder if those are still available.

Also know there were some vertical ottos like the kinser engine, those sound great but over my budget.

If the st marys is not available, then i wonder what is out there right now, full castings set and GOOD accurate prints. Must be a eye catcher engine. I defiantely have no remote interest in joes favorite engine. It has to be some more exotic in design or operation that what i can go buy in full size. Also large engine to run and look good.

Peter, could you be a little more specific. What is your preference, steam or gas? What size are you looking for, big, small? There are many fine model kits available that build into very interesting models and are very mechanical in nature. In the steam line I think that the Cole's Corliss steam engine makes a beautiful mechanical model and there are some nice beam engines available.

I was think about the Merry model harry shown below. that might be 12" flywheel or 10 inch on the larger side of the model spectrum. I also saw a neat vertical side shaft with open flame ignition recently. I was told that kit sold out but i could buy some common hopper style kit. I think the bigger the better with a model kit as long as the price is reasonable. My motivation is not to have something tiny, rather to have something very unusual for display. I prefer to work as much as possable with standard taps and dies, and with full size lathe and mill. There was a vertical otto available a while back, a big model, but not in my budget range - at least at that time. Limited quantity, limited time.

I am looking for for internal combustion, great eye apeal and some unique mechainal features not see in the full size exibits at a show. I personally detest aluminum. cast iron is realistic, machines nice, finish nice.

I have a complete casting set and prints for 1/4 scale case. I got it from an estate and later decide its too small for a steamer and if i ever do build one it would be 1/2 scale. So....thats available for trade.

Don't know who built those two Merys, but I do know where you can get one or two or three of them in about a year or so.

Peter
If you would, let me know what they say. Last time I talked to them, they had quit casting and were just piece mealing kits from leftovers. I may want one more kit or part of a kit depending on what they have left.
