Paul Breisch was a very good friend of mine and to my knowledge the only models he made were the prototypes to check the accuracy of his drawings. He sent me one of his steam models and a small size Olds to machine prior to putting them on the market, he kinda used me for a Guinea Pig. I suppose he figured if I could make them anybody could. I don't think he sold any machined kits, he did send many customers my way and my son and I made many of his gas models. Prior to his death he told me he had shipped me over 200 of his kits. I don't think Jay Peters sold any of the kits machined after he took over Paul's business . I sure wish the individuals that purchased the patterns at the Cabin Fever auction would start and sell the kits I would love to make more. Dave |

Thanks for the reply, Dave. I was just wondering because I have a Li'l Brother model that is built just about perfectly. All the fabricated parts are super nice and it runs excellent. I have seen some engines that were built by amatuer machinists and ended up complete disasters, so I thought maybe Mr. Breisch turned out a few "mechanics kits". I guess mine was built by real craftsman.

Below is a copy of copy of a email I recieved from a fellow model builder about the Breisch/Peters model engine kits dated August 18, 2005.
John Davis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jay Peters model business was sold off at the Iron Fever show last week. The 1/2 Domestic and the Nanzy were purchased by: Bob Herder 2 Spring Mountain Rd. Califon, NJ 07830 908-832-4184 http://members.tripod.com/bobherder Bob is already selling his own model kits and these two kits expand his product line. He intends on selling parts to people that need them. He is taking orders now, and expects to be ready in a couple of months. The 1/2 Olds and 1/3 Associated were purchased by another man near York, PA. These 2 kits will take longer getting to market. He is a new entry in the model kit business and needs time to develop his contacts. He has indicated that he will also sell parts to people that need them. Parts may be available before complete kits. I will know more when I get back from Portland at the end of the month. The 1/4 Olds, L'il Brother, 1/5 Sandwich and the flame licker were either a proxy bid or did not meet the reserve price. Not meeting reserve is the most likely, either way they are in limbo for now. |

About 8 years ago I bought an assembled associated water cooled from Jay Peters. He had told me that he got it from Paul's estate, when he bought it, and was trying to get it to run as a show off piece, to show what the engine looked like when it was finished. Who ever built it though, mis-aligned the key on one of the flywheels, leaving them out of phase, and imbalanced. I believe that they were also machined too thin at the rim, as the engine had to run fast, in order to keep it running. If you tried to slow it down, it would stall, as it could not carry over to the next compression stroke. It was bare metal, when I bought it. I had to dis-assemble it, adjust the igniter trip, re-time the exhaust, as well as the cam timing, before it would even run. I also made up a tin crank guard, like the original engine had, as well. The engine was thoroughly de-greased, and painted with Dupont Dulux paint. I showed Jay the painted engine, and he seemed well pleased. He did owe me the governor springs and adjusters, and after a couple of years of "I'm looking for them", I sorta gave up, on getting them. Not long after, Jay seemed to loose interest in the business, and then I found out that he had become ill. I helped him quite a few times at the Jacktown show, and Kinzers, over the years, and did not find out, until after the fact, that he was putting the business up for sale. Does any one know how he is doing now
