Hi Don..........
Everything I've read about AVG varies from pretty good to the best thing on Earth..............but opinions are like that................ ...................but the reviews suggest it's good.
I was a McAfee user for years until they "improved" it to the extent I had to dump it as it slowed both of my FAST computers to a crawl......
I now use Avast www.avast.com on both my home and business computers. Avast is free to home users and I gladly paid for the pro version at the shop after giving it a shot........

Try either, or something else, just DON'T run more than ONE antivirus application at a time........AND........do NOT be connected to the internet during your uninstalls and installs..................................the average time is something like 2 minutes before being PROBED...........

The current MOST favored application is PC-cillan......and it'll cost you........
