Default 1945 Red Diamond IH engine ad

For whatever its worth---

Thought maybe some of you might enjoy taking a look at this 1945 advertisment for the IH Red Diamond engine. I copied this from an original August 17, 1945 issue of "United States NEWS" magazine---looks to be a forerunner of U.S. News and World Report or Newsweek.

Tough old truck engines.

I spend most of my time on SmokStak further down the scroll in the tractor sections. 20 Highwheeler said that I could come up here, mention his name and pay cash--probably get whatever I needed.

Nice post, does anyone know what "BG" means in IHC model lingo. RD/Red Diamond, BD/Black Diamond, SD/Silver Diamond. I have an IHC BG264 engine, wonder what the BG means

Thanks
Bill

BG = Blue Grey, or sometimes Blue Green depending on who you talk to.

It made reference to the engine color which was a sort of bluish-greyish-greenish color. It actually was Detroit Diesel grey, which looks more green to me.

Also, BLD = Blue Diamond, and GRD = Green Diamond.

agsem---

Thanks for the follow up with the web site on "U.S. NEWS & World Report".

This was a magazine that my parents had filed away with a couple of other news items relating to the end of WW II. I "re--discovered" it the other day while looking for something else. Included alot of talk and discussion on the Atom bomb----including possible future uses of atomic energy.

Magazine was priced at 15 cents---and I was all of 2 years old at the time. Believe that times have changed during this time span.

Old advertisments are always interesting to me----thought that the IHC ad carried a lot of merit.
