Default Look what I found

Hello!

I got a call from one of my crews that was cleaning out an old workshop...said that "there was something here you might like" and this was it.

Onan 5KW generator with Continental Y91 flat 4. I cleaned the contacts on the soleniod, hooked it up to my wife's car with jumper cables, and it turned over!! It seems to have compression when you crank it over by hand, but there may be a valve or two sticking. I know that it hasn't been run in at least 10 years, but before that, it was the main backup generator for the shop and main house. It looks like there's been some re-wiring done, but I know that the generator was working before it was put out of comission, so I assume that it was done correctly. May try to get it running and sell, or just sell it as is.

Now if only I could find a sideshaft...

Chris

WOW Chris Looks like 1800 GOT JUNK Is a dream come true! Who would have thought you can get paid to go to a house, tell the people it will cost them to get rid of stuff then you wind up with a few gold nuggets. You are a modern day prospector. Now if you see any steam stuff you let me know, Long Island is close by .

Can you click on the thumbnail and have the full sized photo pop up? If not, maybe your web browser needs a tune-up.

Chris I have one of these except it is a 3KW Model W3M, hand crank only. Used it for years to power a remote shed until electric was finally run. Only problem is it is 110 volt only. What I liked about it was that it runs at 1800 rpm instead of 3600 rpm which makes it use a lot less fuel. Still try to run and load it up monthly.
