Default Looking for file "ftp40.ocx"

Hi all-
Help.... I need to update my web page.
I lost a hard drive a few months ago and in changing over I lost a few files that were required to run "webmaster" a program that did HTML and FTP access to do my web page. I could run that program, but alas it is no longer available for free or otherwise download. All that is currently available is a newer version that does not support FTP. I suppose I could get something else to work but I am like an old cow, I use what I know. I need a copy of this file "FTP40.ocx" to get my webmaster program to work. I made the mistake of deleting the zipped program from my system and it is not available anywhere. I googled this file and it is not available anywhere either. This file probably got killed from my spybot program since it is a Direct X file. So if anyone has FTP40.ocx that thay could email to me I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
Dave Reed

Dave-----that file is a Windows system file and you can download it here:

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q....ocx&FORM=MSNH

If you or someone feels REAL GOOD about editing the registry (and I'm pretty sure you don't) you can create the key:

Hi Craig-
I have already been down this road. The 20cx site will not download the ftp40.ocx file on my machine. I tried netscape and mickeyexplorer both. The first site (iclub.com) is not the actual file, it just edits the registry to handle the file. If the file is not present, nothing can happen. I searched my Windows disk, and everything else that I can search and this file is not there. After this problem I am really afraid to use the "clean up" program that you recommend. I don't need any more necessary files deleted. Thanks for your help, but I still need to find this file, ftp40.ocx .
Thanks,
Dave

Dave-the CleanUp program removes ONLY cached internet activities...not system files.
What operating system are you running?

The end of the story is the ftp40.ocx file is a proprietary file.
OCX files, by their nature, are easily "altered" by hackers to do things other than the things for which were written and then might then be nailed by an anti-virus application and removed (cleaned)....... .......
I once tried a little utility for cleaning unwanted and unnecessary files off the hard drive called "TIDYDISK" which REALLY tidied up my hard drive...........tidied a bunch of operating system files right off the drive............
So poor Dave is just out of luck......................................and so was I..........
