Harry is likely not surprised to see that I FINALLY found this new to me forum. He knows I'm not real swift on a computer. I've posted a few pictures in the steam and some of the other forums too. I have some pictures of cars and trucks that are interesting to me and hopefully you too?
This first picture is one of the several Model TT trucks my dad and his brothers farmed with. This one has an over center, near balance, dump truck they hauled grain with. My uncle Audie Yaeger is dumping grain into a boxcar at Joan, Montana (pop.0) on the old Jawbone, or Milwaukee Railroad between Moore and Glengarry, Montana. Since Ford didn't make cabs or boxes for Model TTs at this time, they took a cut-off touring car body and placed it on the frame and put this grain box behind that. In late 1923, Henry Ford came out with the partial open Model TT "C-cab" and also provided a metal pickup style box with rear fenders, which became the 1924 model. In 1925, Ford came out with the square cab with glass enclosure and continued the metal pickup styel box with rear fenders. The Model TT was never standard with an electrical starting system, as generally, only men drove them. ![]() Since I notice the wording, "Antique Auto and Truck Engines" on this forum, I am doing this next picture to perform the letter of the law.... Hopefully, to Harry's satisfaction. This picture shows the "powerplant" in my 1926 Model T Ford Coupe. The 1925 Model Ts were advertized with 20hp engines. In 1926, they were advertized with 22hp engines. This extra 2hp was accomplished, somehow, with the same bore and stroke! ![]() This is a picture of my 1926 Model T Ford Coupe with my brother Bill as a passenger, riding with his oldest son Randy at the wheel. Randy is the immediate past Chief of the Montana Highway Patrol and spent 20 years as Montana's "Bear in the Air." He said he felt very uncomfortable driving this car with no seat belt! I bought this car when I lived Near Lewistown, Montana, for $10 for the car and $5 for the cylinder head in 1953, when I was 10 years old. I finally had a facility and the equipment to completely "bolt by bolt" restore it in the fall of 2003, year 2004, and completing it in the spring of 2005. As far as I know, I am the fourth owner. ![]() This is my original 1925 Model TT truck, taken this past September at our Northwest Antique Power Association show near Kalispell, Montana, where I've lived for the past 25 years. I bought this truck in 1954, when I was 11 years old, for an astronomical over-price of $125. I am the second owner. I figured If I could keep it for enough years, I'd eventually "heal-up" from paying way too much for it, when I got it. This standard truck is only a hand cranker (no starting system), has accessory kerosene side lamps (which were an extra - expected to be on a non electric starter truck), has an accessory hand crank windshield wiper on the driver's side and has a three speed columbia driveline transmission, giving it six speeds forward and three in reverse. I didn't want anyone to think I was totally into wooden spokes, or it wasn't a car.
I'm placing a photo of the 1962 Pontiac Catalina I drove out of the factory at Pontiac, Michigan in the early fall of 1961. It had a 389 with TriPower and didn't always beat its opponent, but didn't always lose either. I should have kept that car. That Nash, behind my Pontiac, was my girlfriend's... Now my wife for 43+ years. ![]() Just because I got rid of that Pontiac doesn't mean the apple didn't fall far enough away from the apple tree in this case. My son, Mike, bought this 1957 Chevy Belair Coupe in the fall of 1983, as he was starting his senior year in high school. I'd let him farm a piece of ground at the farm near Lewistown that summer and this is what he invested his money into. He still owns Gertrude and she lives in his shop at Helena. Firebird's & Camaro's, plus some muscle MoPars were his competition, he explains, while in his senior year. He confided: "Paw... I never lost." Gary

This is the only picture I have of Dad's 1951 Jeep Pickup taken at the farm near Lewistown, Montana. This was in the winter of 1952. I was hauling my photographer uncle Bob "up the hill".
![]() This is a picture I found of a snowstorm and blizzard at Moore, Montana in April of 1968. That is Lynn Simpson's (my father in-law) 1967 Ford Galaxie in that drift. That truck at right is now my wife's 1953 Ford F350 one ton, with the hoist raising the box in this picture, for drainage. Since Son Mike has it in his shed at Helena, he is trying to lay claim to it. Gary

Is that a 50. or a 51 Nash, Gary? I bought my first car for $35, from my aunt. It was a 50 Nash. great gas mileage, and rode like a dream. I had it blocked up in the pasture, so the cows could eat the weeds around it to prevent rust. Dad sold some timber while I was in VN, and the logger totaled it, & I got nothing out of it.
The Nash would really go in the snow too, with good tires. It didn't have enough power to spin!

I don't really remember, but would say it would be a 51, but I was thinking maybe 1952? I don't know my Nash cars, as I always take showers. (i.e. not baths, in bathtubs??). You are right about it going good in snow. They wouldn't spin their walnut shell winter tires. I guess a guy could take one to a steam show and not have to rent a motel room, as they all (not the Metropolitan) made out into a bed.Gary

I've just placed this photo two other places on other forums. This is my father in-law Lynn Simpson's 1967 Galaxy, 90 Massey Harris, two WD-9 McCormick Standards and his 1953 Ford F350 truck. My wife inherited the F350 and son Mike claims it, as it is in his shed near Helena, Montana. This picture was taken near Moore, Montana in April 1978.

I just embarrased myself!!! I found two posts, a day apart of my father in law's Ford Galaxy in the snowbank. I'm sorry folks.
Oh well, I guess I'll post another picture of son Mike's 1957 Chevy, taken at Pam's and his wedding in September 1991, correct son? He wanted to use it to cruise the streets of Missoula after the wedding, as he and Pam were attending the U of M there. Gary I'm no longer "bashful"... Now I'm embarrased. Senior moment???

BK,
I drive a Chevy Pickup and Buick auto, but "My Other Car (and truck) Is a Model T!" Since I like Buicks, I'm placing a picture of my great uncle Robert Hamilton's Buick (ca 1907-08?) in Montana's Judith Basin. ![]() This picture is of ER Roehl's Buick Dealership in Lewistown, Montana, where I was born, during a flood situation in 1920. In 1963 my father traded his 1954 Kaiser Special for a new 1963 Pontiac Catalina 4 dr sedan with the regular gas 389 3 sp on column. My brothers and I thought it was a great automobile. Dad bought a new Olds 88 in 1969 and sold the Pontiac. He thought it would have to much power for us kids to drive. After a few years, in 1976, I saw an ad for and bought a 1963 Catalina 2 dr ht with a 389 Tri Power/4sp setup. Not much else for options.$975 In 1980 I bought a nice 1963 Bonneville 4 dr Vista hardtop 389 4V auto.$200 Three years ago my brother bought a 1963 Catalina 4 dr 389 auto with factory AC. 1 1/2 years ago I bought another project. A 1963 Catalina convertable that had been sitting near Oklahoma City without engine/trans since 1971. I have found all the parts to set it up as a 421 Tri Power,4 SP, 8 lug finned brake drums,Posi trac, PS,PB, factory in dash air,Tach, with Ventura trim. As fast as I have been getting stuff done lately it will be on my estate sale and be someone elses project.

Tom,
Yeah, that 1962 Catalina was a keeper. I'd ordered it in Lewistown, before I was shipped to Fort Knox, where I went to Pontiac, Michigan to pick it up. I'd actually ordered a "1962 'Ventura'" but as you know, they dropped the Ventura in favor of the tried and tested Catalina that year. I married in April 1963 and before we went on our honeymoon to southern California, I traded the 1962 for a 1963 Catalina, much like you describe that your dad had. In 1964 I traded for a 1964 Catalina. I can't find the photo album with my cars, since I moved five years ago, or I'd have them here. It sounds like your family could write a book on 1963 Pontiacs! Gary, Tom, you two triggered my memory. Theres a barn close me, that has at least 1 Kaiser, 1 Fraiser, a 62 Pontiac [not certain if its a Cat or not]. Also I think there may a Henry J, and a Packard in the same barn. They'll likely never be sold though. I asked once, and just got that "mortified" stare from the folks that own them.

This is a 1949 1-1/2 ton Chevy truck that belongs to my good friend Dan Tombrink. Dan painted the wheels & frame, plus the Knapheide box. I did the bodywork and painted the cab for him. It turned out pretty nicely for a couple of old farmers, I thought. Actually, I'd painted cars at Billings Chrysler-Plymouth for nearly four years, but I'd been away from it for a bunch of years and my eyesight wasn't what it used to be, especially in a little darker building.

This first picture is of my late father in-law, Lynn Simpson, when they still lived at Beloit, Kansas. He is in his wagon and has their dog with him.
![]() This is a picture of younger brother Wayne Simpson, pushing Lynn Simpson in their "car" at the farm near Moore, Montana, circa 1916. ![]() This is a picture of my Mother in-law, Cleo Hummer, before she married my father in-law, Lynn Simpson. It was taken in Lewistown, Montana, in front of her parent's house. Lynn's car is an "Improved" 1926 Model T Ford Tudor Sedan. ![]() This is a picture of my father in-law Lynn Simpson with his 1926 Model T Tudor. Gary

This is a picture of my late father in-law, Lynn Simpson, with his 1929 Model A Ford Coupe.
![]() This is a picture taken during the Great Depression, of Lynn Simpson sitting on the front bumper of a 1934 Ford taxi he drove. He found work at Glasgow, Montana during the construction of Fort Peck Dam, near there and was the world's largest earth filled dam or reservoir until the Chinese took that destinction away from us about five years ago. ![]() This is a picture taken of Lynn and his own 1934 Ford Tudor Sedan, after he'd obviously been hunting in Montana's Judith Basin with a friend or relative, who snapped the photo. ![]() This is a picture of that same very stylish 1934 Ford Tudor up camping in central Montana's Little Belt Mountains. Notice the "suicide" (forward latch) driver's door being open. Gary

Does anyone here have any idea what kind of truck this Cab Over Engine truck is in Great Falls, July 4th, 1938? My guess would be a GMC, but that is a careless guess. Hopefully, one of you can tell me?

This is the only photo I have of the 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner convertible I once owned. This is me and Sharon Simpson, my lovely wife of 43+ years, taken in May of 1961. She is pretty even in those "Adrian" glasses!
