Default 1914 Avery Truck

I am an avery collector and recently found this truck frame. In Lloyd Van Horns book on old trucks there is a photo of the 5 ton truck. Does any one have any information on this truck? Are there any surviors besides this one? There is a smaller one in iowa but I have never visited that collection. Thanks Don Blausey

Don, I was at a auction some years back where one was sold. It might be the one in Iowa now. The auction was in ILL. It looked like the smaller one in the advertisement. Put I think it had a stake body on it. The frame almost looks like the one a freind of mine has for a White truck about that size.

Don, you might want to go over to www.aths.org and post your question along with the pictures there on the discussion page, under the general forum (NOT the photo album).... I KNOW they'd be very interested in it, and might have some info for you!!
Thanks,
JH

Avery must've been a fairly low production line; was it the same Avery that produced tractors? Both had addresses of Peoria, IL; Auto Qtly sez truck prod was 1910-24, but only truck listing I find in my limited sources a 1917-20 Model Glide 40 (no tonnage) and a 1920 1 Ton, (no engine info). If that's the same company producing tractors they're unusual in producing their own tractor and equipment engines until just before they gave up (taken over by Le Tourneau 1941 or so). Do post to aths.org; Jeff L there has both the Georgano and Mroz histories, plus a wealth of other stuff.

Yes as far as I can tell they were the same company. Here is a scan of the front cover of a 1912 catalog.
