Default Dicken's steam train

Well Im all most done I started it in high school and it sat on the back burner for a while. This is my first scrap built engine. I'm home schooled on both lathe and mill. The other engine was made from all the so called mistakes. That engine runs sweet. If anyone built one of these and can give me some tips I'm all ears. The wheels will be remade from brass when I find some at the right price.

I am retired and starting into models. This looks good to me. What are the wheels made of? I would not use brass for them just so they stand out--alum or stain? Keep machining.

The wheels are made of alum. I was going to use brass until I got a quote on a piece of brass. Im almost done with it , the burner they have you make dosent work well I might get a gas fired unit. It would be safer. The alcohol burner isnt very safe.

Quick tip: Add about a teaspoonful of baking soda to a pint of alcohol, it will make the flame more yellow and easier to see any burning spills
