Angry Another Computer Problem

I'm running Internet explorer 7 and I use outlook express. I not able to insert hyperlinks. They know there is a problem and I'm at a loss for getting help. I've tried there 2 repair methods and they didn't help. Anyone else out there got a fix for this. Thanks Fred

I had a similar problem, and had to de-install 7.0, and go back to 6.0

Well.... If I wanted to add a link I would just cut and paste it in the text of the E-mail....

But if you want the add Hyperlink to function you have to go to the format function then Put a check in the Rich text HTML box... Then the add hyperlink will function... In the insert menu...

I Gotta Say I really Like IE 7....

OK, after over 2 hrs. on the phone talking to the tech. and being put on hold for customer service and then the tech. comes back on and tells me it is going to be longer (another 10 mins.) this happens twice, they hang up on me while I'm on hold . Still no solution.

Actually the best resolve to the IE-7 issue is to download and install Firefox. Internet Exploder has issues, Microsoft has issues as well. Just do an fdisk and then install Mandriva or FreeBSD and be done with it. Forget about email virus and portscans or worse your machine becoming a spam bot.

Ken, The usaual way I put hyperlink in e-mail is to right click the favorite and the drop down box asks what to do. One option is send to e-mail recipient and then it just that easy. If I want to post a link on this web site "smokestak" I can't seem to get er done. If like on this thread here I clik add link the box opens and asks for the Http\\; url which I don't know unless I right it down. Way to much Trouble. If I try to drag and drop it just opens the web site I'm trying to install. So I need specific instructions on how to put a hyperlink say in this thread. You gave instructions , but I don't know where you started. Any advice will be welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Fred

Well.. I thought you was trying to add hyperlinks in Outlook express being you were talking about outlook....

What I do is if I want to add a link to a webpage is just to open the site in another tab and cut and paste the link from the browser window... I didn't know there was another way... I'll have to mess around and see just what you are trying to do... When I had IE 6 I would open another browser to get the url and then cut and paste it...

As far as writing down that won't work for me as i might get one Dot off you you know how that works...

I like the new tabbed system and sometimes have several sites going at once and can jump back and forth without opening another browser...

And Nope... I'm Not going to Firefox or Motzerilla as I Just figured out how this one works... I came from WebTV so Anything is an Improvement...

Well... what I find is if I use the favorites at the star in the upper left hand corner and left click the page I want to add then right click properties then click copy then go to where I want to paste it and hit paste... http://www.oldengine.org/members/lozzi/Index.htm

And here it is...

But if I use the text favorites it don't work...

Even in IE 6 on my old puter I still have to go to Properties to copy the URL....

Does this look right? If I left click any of my favorites it automaticlly goes to the web page. What I did here was right click and the opened properties. Copied and paste. If this works I'll have to stay with it. I did uninstall Internet explorer 7 and now running 6 but it still won't let me paste the way I used to. The old way was just right click and the drop down box would ask what i wanted to do.. I would clik on copy and then go to web page right clik for drop down box and have the option to paste. That paste option is not highlighted now so I can't use it. Don't know what changed. Hey, thaks for all your help!!!!!!!

I guess I just don't understand. The road to posting a hyperlink on this web site is now totally different and lot harder. Is this because of the format change here on Smokstak or is it because of IE 7? I'm now going to try another.

Fred............this site automatically parses (makes HOT) links so you can "click and go".
When you paste a link on this site it is a hot link by default.........although you CAN change to NOT automatically parse...............but I don't why anyone would want to do that.......

Craig, Thanks again for the help! I know the way i used to do it doesn't work anymore. I know have to open the web site and copy the http\\: whatever from the browser bar and paste it in the bar that comes up when I clik on Insert mail. I used to drop and drag or I could copy and paste straight from favorites to the thread, not now. Don't know what is different. If you look back a couple replys I some how I installed links that are not parsed.
Thanks again and everybody be real careful out there. Fred
