I am in need of a set of drawings for what I believe to be a 1/3 scale Associated Hired Man or Chore Boy engine kit as sold by Paul Breisch or Jay Peters. The flywheels are a little over 6 inches in diameter. I have the complete casting kit, but no prints. If anyone has the contact information for the person that bought the kits and patterns when they were sold at auction a year or two ago, I would appreciate hearing from you. Or, if anyone has a set of prints they would be willing to sell or make copies from, I would appreciate hearing from you. This casting kit was purchased by my wife's grandfather about 18 years ago. He never got around to building it, and he passed away in October. We believe that the prints may have gotten thrown away by a family member that was sorting through his belongings after his death. I would like to build the engine in memory of him, but I need a set of prints in order to machine the parts.

A big Thank You to those of you that emailed me in regard to plans for the engine. A fellow Staker has offered me a set of plans, but I still need to call him to be sure that the plans that he has are just what I need. Thanks again guys !!!

Hi there I have a complete casting kit with all the drawings and looking for a buyer. Got any ideas ? I am just about finished with a BREISCH OLDS also and will also concider selling it. I have a complete modern machine shop and do very good work so the OLDS has been done right,

They've been bringing good money on eBay lately. The last Breish Associated I saw brought around $1700.00-$1800.00 Your Olds model should bring quite a bit more than that.
![]() I have the Paul R Breish Associated kit that I bought 35 years ago while in Jr. Highschool, complete with the timing gears and mini spark plug. Dad did most of the machinework on it at that time, but there are still a few small parts I need to finish making on it one of these days/years..... ![]() Right now everything is neatly packed away in the original wooden shipping box laying on top of the envelope full of blueprints stored in one of my kitchen cabinets waiting for me to get motivated again.

I would like to find another associated Hit & miss engine to finish. The first one was kinda hard but the 2nd one should be more easy. If most the big chunks are there...it would be a familiar project! Capt,n

GOOD morning OTTO Thank you for your help. I had no idea these engines had such a high value. I received email from a very nice person that is interested but not at such a high price.

Keep in mind though that the Breisch Associated model that sold at $1700.00++ was a completed model like you indicated your Olds would be.
Bare unmachined castings for the Assosiated (which I think is out of production which also has raised its value) may only bring $300.00- $700.00 maybe more maybe less, depending on how well it's listed and how many people find your listing. An unmachined kit will sometimes bring more than a partially machined kit because the potential buyers have no way of knowing if the parts were machined correctly or not. A completed running model will bring more as it opens up the market to more people as not everyone has the machining ability and can't afford to pay a shop to do it for them. If you were to machine and assemble the Associated from what I've seen it should go in the $1700-$1800 range but there again it depends on the amount of coverage at the time. If you're doing the machine work yourself, you would need to figure approximitely how many hours you would have in it and decide if you were doing it because you enjoyed working on them, or if you were doing it for profit and see how much per hour you would get for the time involved. A first time builder will have many many more hours invested than someone that's built several of them already and has more skill and labor saving shortcuts. With todays ecconomy there may be fewer people willing to spend that much, but at the same time, there are more people looking for other things to invest in as well, and these will always go up in value. Model engines will often bring much more money than the full sized versions of the same engines too. |

THANK YOU OTTO. The associated engine is totaly un machined and has the original wooden box it came in. It comes with the timing gears, piston rings, lubricators, pre machined valves and two spare flywheels. It include the teflon bushing for inighter ignition also. All of the castings really look top quality.
I had better quit the sales pitch or I may convince myself that I should build it !! I have a health issue that is draining my stamina but the problems may be resolved in the near future. jack |

I am looking for a set of drawings for the Briesch Associated. I'm pretty sure that's the one I have, water cooled, flywheels are just under 6.5" unmachined. I have high speed connection, they could be emailed to me or snail mail would be great for a readable copy.
Thanks in advance! Marty |
