John Deere serial numbers

I am looking for a list of serial numbers and years manufactured for some john deere water cooled engines that are going up for auction up here where I live.
anyone know where I could find a list?
The auction bill just gives the numbers and not much else as far as what they are,
Just listed as water cooled engines...

Hi Jeff. Wendel's Notebook has the serial number listings for many engines. It lists; 286171 as 1928, and 343960 as 1937. Ron.

Thanks for the info, May have to take some time next weekend and check them out at that auction and see if there is any deals! They really did not list them very well in the bill, and the auction is a ways up north here, There is a few tractors there too that I'm interested in, but they did not list if they are running, ser numbers, or much else but just a poor pic of them covered in dust. Was hoping there would be a low turn out
Will have to let yea know what they go for.

Jeff; It would be nice if we could get all auctioneers to list Serial Numbers, Hp, & condition in their Advertizing. Some of them have no clue!!! The good ones always do it, and makes a better crowd.
