Hi Jerry. With a hit n miss engine you need a mixer more than a carburetor. You can use a pipe nipple or street L. It needs a venture, reduce the diameter by about 2/3. In the middle of the venturi bring in a fitting for fuel with a small hole in center for the fuel to pass. This will be at right angles to the surface of the pipe. In a direct line across you will need a pointed threaded screw that can completely plug the hole when screwed in. The more pointed the screw and the finer the thread the easier it will be to adjust the mixture. I hope this helps. Ron.

An old friend of mine used to say the venturi should be 10% of the engine bore. Give or take a little! He had good luck and I have done the same with good results.

Jerry
I have a crude mixer that was damaged during shipping that fits Rons discription. It may give you the idea of how they are constructed. I have a few items up on ebay that will need to be shipped next week (i hope), if you will e-mail me your address, I'll toss it in a bubble bag and send it along.
