It was a floor model and the have a no return policy on them.

Edit:
I had to download the drivers because the disc covers 98 2000 me and xp only. I also tried this with an older computer, same problem.

Cody.......................BUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!

Try going the manufacturer's website and see if there are updated drivers.
Check your current driver version FIRST so you don't waste time downloading the drivers you already have..............

edit: This JUST dawned on me!
Your NEW pc is running VISTA!
Look for Vista drivers..............

Cody-

You may have recourse if you used a credit card to pay for it, regardless of their policy. It should have a new warrantee, so any defect will be repaired by an HP authorized service station.

HP has on-line forums for their products, so you may be able to get advice there. It could be as simple as downloading new drivers, or perhaps resetting the CPU.

Hopefully you still have it... I found a post here http://www.runqa.com/scanners/94-scanners.html that mentions a simple fix for your problem, the quote is below.

"Basically, I am trying to use the scan feature but an error message occurs - "No Scan Options" which leads me to believe I need to be connected to a network/server. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:
You need to go into the HP Solution Center that was installed with your drivers and set the "Scan To:" options. I was having this same problem and setting those options fixed it.

Of course you can as long as its connected to your pc. The images you scan will then go directly to your pc.

Sounds like either your rpinter drivers or the software that came with your printer is glitched or not installed.

Check this link for Drivers and Software that should hae came with your printer"
