Mark: You might try this site. They are pretty knowledgeable on IHC trucks. Have seen some references from time to time on various manuals but don't remember specific models. Denny

Binderbooks.com (or org or net, I forget which) is referred to as having manuals for any and every IHC, but I don't know anything about their prices...

Mark,
Nice find! I awlays thought the '40's IHC trucks were some of the nicest looking ever built. I used to have a 1942 K-2. (Or was it KB-2? Can't remember!)

Congrats on the find, and good luck with the manuals.

Bringing some memories back now Mark, I drove one of those old bangers when I was 18 carting cans of milk, good solid old beast.

Parts are everywhere.

You can buy many new and used parts from any of the International Light Line dealers.

Among those dealers is Binder Books, which is the factory-authorized reprinter for all International and McCormick manuals and graphics. They have the O&M manual, the Service manual, and the Parts manual for your truck. You should have all three.

Another Light Line dealer was Ken Young with OldIHC Warehouse, but he had to retire and he sold his inventory to ScoutParts and TravelAllParts. While they may have some parts, their staff is not very knowledgeable when it comes to trucks older than about 1960.

I recommend Portland Engine Rebuilders for your engine. They sell rebuilt engines around the Pacific Rim and across North America. (I believe the record was an IHC 345 SV engine for a fellow in Switzerland.) They have done a ton of Green Diamond engines in the last five years, and I believe they have done at least three this year.

Weatherstrips can be had from some Light Line dealers, although you should probably order from Clester's or Restoration Specialties.

Brand-new repop hubcaps are available from Steveidas, although they no longer have a website. I can get their phone number if you need it.

Wiring harness is available brand new from Vintage Wiring of Maine. I saw one of these on a restored KB-1 pickup at the Great Western Binder Bee this past weekend, and can attest that they make absolutely the best harness I have seen, with the same cloth-insulated cable as was originally used.

Engine parts and gaskets are available brand new from your local NAPA.

Many axle and transmission parts are also available new, depending on what you need.

Brake cables are available new. If you need one, let me know.

Many other items (manifold heat stove springs, headlight bezels, 12-volt conversion kits, etc.) are available piecemeal from different vendors to fit other non-IH trucks. You have to specify what you need.

Bed floor pans are not available new, but one from any of the trucks up to about 1975 can be made to work, if you can find a good one that is.

You need to visit the IHC websites. I think the Binder Bulletin is the best, with the most information. Visit the OEM Heaven and Triple Diamond Talk fora. You will find that many of the BB members are also owners or employees of the Light Line dealers, which I have not found commonly on the other sites.

OldIHC is also good, although their website is rather quirky and not as easy to use.

You should also join one of the IH clubs or visit a forum for a club near you. Most of them don't cost anything to join, and they are a good bunch of folks and usually willing to lend a hand if you need it.

If you can make it, you should hit the IHC Nationals in Illinois in August. It is the 100th Anniversary of International Motor Truck, and this will be the largest gathering of IH trucks ever. There will everything from the old Highwheeler cars to the 2008 model trucks. You will probably see a lot of K/KB trucks there.

I'm in the middle of a 1948 KBS-6 resurection and frequent oldihc.org.
Remember when ordering parts from anyone that the smaller trux (k/kb 1 thru 5) share parts, but the larger trux (k/kb-6 and up) are different.
I spent a lot of timer and money returning parts that were wrong.
Here is a list of rubber parts that I could not find anywhere, so I made patterns and made them out of urethane. The patterns are new, not made from old parts. I measured remains of old parts to make the correct item. I sold a few sets, but am not current pouring any. I have mine now, so I moved on!! I will be making other stuff with the same urethane, so if you are not in a hurry, I can make these parts. I struggled with bubbles, and have a box of "driver quality" stuff, with slight flaws, that I will sell cheaper than the full price. The Big Guys may have started making these by now, but if you are unsuccessful in finding them , you can contact me.
