Hi Randy,
Enclosed are some photos of my 1 1/2 JD original cart. The handle is .320 Dia.
So I think it is 5/16 under the paint. The handle loops around the axles just inside from the wheels. The handle sides are 29" from the axle center to the
bend. The distance across the handle is 7 1/4".The center of the handle is bent out about 3/4" from straight. This is probably just mine and not what is when new. Also not sure if the handle should loop over from the top or bottom? When it was shipped to me about 25 years ago it was in pieces.I guess it would work either way.You may need to check other cart pictures.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Jim McCracken
