Enclosed drive shafts

What brands of cars had enclosed drive shafts?

Neihbor has some parts out in the woods and it is enclosed drive shaft. Tranny has 2 levers on the side.

your early chevy's had enclosed drive shafts, early fords did and im not sure whut else but there were probably many others.

If I'm remembering correctly, the enclosed driveshaft type used to be called "torque tube drive" while the open driveshaft type was called "Hotchkiss (phonetic) drive", if that's any help in your research.
Anything left besides what you mentioned? Does the trans have a top cap for a gearshift to go in, or just levers on the side?? Wheels? (size,artillery,disc,spoke etc) Frame? Pix would be worth 10,000 words--well, maybe 1000-2000...

Ford 1908-1948 passenger cars, pickups to about 1941, Chevrolet cars & pickups from (?) up to about 1952-54, Nash & Rambler for many years, Buick from very early thru about 1961, doubtless others. Some smaller GM cars around 1960-63, like Pontiac Tempest, also had enclosed driveshafts.

Actualy if it has outside levers, sounds like Buick, some of them had levers mounted outside the pasenger compartment on the running board.

2 levers on the side to me means a column shift from a relatively late model from sometime between the mid thirties and the mid fifties.

If the axle tubes bolt onto the center section, it's a Ford product.

What kind of front suspension does it have (provided the frame is there)?

see if you can get any numbers or names off it. since alot of older autos had touque tubes. Try looking up different car restoration projects on the web and alot of people will have photos of the axels and chassis. it is not quick but you will eventually see one like it.
