I am trying to find out what I need for this Waterloo contract engine. Do you think it had a magneto/ignitor originally? Any information would be appreciated. Mark

hi
it looks like you have some of the trip finger there so my best guess is yes it would of had a mag/bracket and ignitor set up. i have been givin lots of help with ignition from a sponcer of this site and im sure he will help you.Rudy Adrian try him bruce |

I'd say maybe a Webster 303K8 is what you need.

Mark, from the picture you posted, the trip piece bolted onto the exhaust pushrod is for a Wizard oscillating mag setup. The battery ignitor you have there uses a different style trip, and the Webster mag/bracket 303K8 uses a different trip again. Rudy

Mark, I don't know if the engine in this picture is an exact match with yours but maybe the photo will help.

Looks like George has the Wizard that Rudy is talking about.

Mark, here is a photo of the Wizard magneto on my Waterloo K throttler...Your engine does not look like a K model from what I can see of the front of the head and hopper but the magneto and ignitor set up looks the same. Good Luck. gv

Yeah, it looks like an older engine to me too. Wouldn't a K or H with a Wizard have a gear drive governor? I think you have the right ignitor and the wrong trip.

Most "contract" engines that I've seen don't have a gear drive govenor. The govenor weights are on the flywheels, like most contract engines.Thats one of the differences that sets them apart, and a lot of times a different style water hopper. As Bill mentioned , an H or K with a wizard would have a gear drive flyball govenor.I would would remove the wizard trip piece and find/build a battery ignitor trip.
