John,
My old 1974 IH 1600 Loadstar truck I used to have, had saddle tanks on each side of the frame, behind the cab. These were the caps used on them. Notice they have a fusible (lead filled) set of holes, in case of fire. They were secured with a brass chain inside the tank, as I remember.

John is that Chuck's? Some time back he showed it to me and I told him it was off a IH truck fuel tank. But I could not tell how old.
