On Sept.3-4 1987 Nixon's held the Mike Janzen auction in Bridgewater S. D. There were a lot of very scarce engines in that sale and I would really like to know where two of them are today. There was a 2 1/2 HP White vertical side shaft and a 2 1/2 HP Globe vertical. Does anyone know the whereabouts of either of these engines?

Someone posted photos from the auction on the internet several months ago. The featured a photo of the White and possibly the Globe. I don't remember who posted them and not sure if they purchased the engine or wanted info on it. Maybe they'll reply to your thread.

I had a pic up of the globe awhile ago wondering what ever happened to it. Dad always kicked himself for not buying it
He brought home the 6hp Brown & 3-1/2 Semms from the sale. I got pics of the engines in rows at the sale but would have to scan them. There was a nice original Howe there too I never seen again.-nick |

Nick, I think George Carbonneau bought the Howe. Not sure of the other engines. Those were the good old days!

My interest in the Globe is because I have another one which I restored a couple of years ago. (see the thumb)I would really like to see how much alike the two engines are. I don't know of any other 2 1/2 HP Globes and only one 3 HP Globe which is not complete. There is a nice short video of a running 3 HP White on GEMs You Tube site. This one is in Australia.

I am going to resurect this one once and see if I can get some answers. I am beginning to think that my Globe and the one in the Janzen auction are the same engine. I talked to the son of the man who owned the Globe and he is not shure where it came from but in the mid eighties He remembers dad going to several auctions "out west" and bringing a number of engines home. The mans name was Tony Prock and I bought most of what remained of his collection a couple of years ago. This Globe engine had stood outside, uncovered for at least 20 years and that may be the reason it had no paint and the Janzen engine was blue. If any one remembers Tony being at this auction I would love to hear from you and any other information would be much appreciated.

Hey Daniel I dont know if it's blue or not but it's the one from the Janzen sale. That was the only pic of it I found.

You could try calling Doug Janzen in Rapid City South Dakota, He is Mike's son and may remember where these went. He has a Very Nice Collection himself.

Hi Nick and Gene;
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I am 90% shure from the picture that this is the engine I now own. At least three things lead me to that belief. The oddly angled return line from the mixer back to the base. The home made shutter, choke plate at the bottom of the mixer, and the two eared cap on top of the gasoline filler pipe are all exactly like my engine was when I first got it. The belt pulley also looks like it is the right diameter. I will try contacting Doug Janzen tomorrow evening about any further information he might have. Again THANK YOU!! Iron Wolf HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY

I wasn't able to get ahold of Doug Janzen last nite and am heading to Portland in the morning but I thought I would let you know that the guard rods on the mixer were not there when I got the engine. A piece of the flange that the rods go into had been cut away and a new piece had to be added to hold three of them. P. S. The blue paint thing is because someone at the Portland show last august told me that he had seen an engine like mine in an auction in the 80s and it was painted blue.
