Does anyone know the proper diameter and length of leather belting to use for a 2 HP Vert A/C IHC Engine? There are several dia's available. Also, how to connect the belt together. I'm new at this. Thank you very much. Fred in MI.

I could'nt tell you what size belt you need but I do know that the equipment that you run usually had specs as to how long the belt should be. The length/weight of the belt has a lot to do with the "grip" on the pulleys. The belt tention usually don't help much because most equipment was not stationary and when you tighten the belt so goes the equipment(moves on you). There are two types of fasteners one is "clipper" which needs a special tool to close up, the other is alligator which fastens with a long pin. The alligator makes a lot of noise as it crosses the pulleys (would not recommend)...........ben

We used 3/8 round leather belting on ours, we got it at the Missouri Sewing Machine Co. in Kansas City.

Put the belt together with a single "Hog Ring" like is used in furniture upholstery.

As for length, cut the belt a 1/2 inch or so shorter than the measurement around the flywheel and the fan pulley.
