Jerry:

Sounds like the 'puter's got a problem.

First things first. Make SURE that the monitor's got power and the video cable is good.

When you turn it on, can you hear the hard drive working as it boots up? If not, it could be toast.

If the hard drive is doing it's thing, it could be that the video card is bad. If it has the video integrated on the motherboard, they're hardly fixable and you'll probably have to shell out for a new one.
