Default Parts needed Military PU-286/G Generator

Trying to restore a Military Generator PU-286/G powered by a four cylinder Hercules ZXB flat head engine. This is a water cooled 5 KW generator with a squirrel cage blower and small radiator at the top of the cage. Need the water intake hose adapter that mounts on the head. Also the squirrel cage that mounts on the crankshaft. Any parts out there that I might purchase? Thanks Don

Do you have any pictures of your set up? I just aquired a Hercules ZXB engine and wondered what the set up looked like with the generator. Mine is a PU 263.

Here is a scanned page from the manual. I can get more pictures of my unit if you would like. Don

Hmm, that picture looks like a junker I have.

Wednesday I'll have time to stop by the storage barn
and double check. Chance I have the parts you seek.

Hi Steve Thanks for the email. This unit looks to be complete otherwise. The previous owner seems to have lost these parts. Not sure why they were removed. I got it started and making power. Just could not let it run too long. Gladly pay for the parts if you can find them. I am in 95667 zip. Thanks Don

Hi Don,

Yea, kind of ...

Monster snow storm here this week, another 15" on top of
what was already on the ground.

Got into storage barn, found generator.

From memory: US Corps of Engineers 5KW 120V 60 HZ
Hercules ZX(?) engine Coors & Root gen end circa 1950's

Can't get access to the spec plates right now. Unit is buried
under other junk, not even room to pull it out because a car
is in the way that can't get moved out until some snow melts.

Was able to reach in and blind shoot some pics. Looks like
the water outlet is missing, blower fan is still there.

Pic attached. Fan roughly 6" deep, mayby 16" diameter.

Look like what you seek? I'll be in building again this
weekend and will try to see/pic more.

Steve

Yes it looks perfect. I can make the water output hose adapter. From the manual I can see that is is a bit offset to allow the hose to line up with the head outlet hole. Let me know the price and when it would be available. Would love to get the generator back running again. Thanks for all of your efforts. Don

Hi Don,

Did some more digging, look what I found.

Got my hand in behind blower, feels like just 4 bolts holding
it in place. I may be able to remove it without moving the
entire generator. Probably next Weds.

Not kosher to sell stuff here on the bulletin board, so I'll
try bending that rule slightly and maybe others will follow suit.

Shipping should be around $20, willing to send you the parts
in exchange for donating the money to smokstak.

Sound fair? If so, I'll private message you with more info
and to get your shipping info.

Hi Steve You make a deal that is hard to refuse. Will agree to it only if you allow me to bump it up to $40.00. Do they take PayPal? Will contact you with my shipping info. I would suggest USPS Flat Rate Box for 8.00. They have a shirt box that will fit the fan. Thanks again Don

I finally got into the barn again, and pulled the blower.

And I'm ready for it to quit snowing any day now.
Two feet deep and still going. No more trips to the
barn for a while.

I can ship Weds. (my day off)

Will private message you also.

For info only there is a USPS flat rate box that should fit the blower. It looks like a shirtbox and is over 12 inches wide and long. I think it is around 5 or 6 inches deep. Not sure if the fan blower is under 5 inches deep. Again, Thanks for all of your efforts. Looking forward to getting the parts. Will send pictures when its running. Don
