Exclamation Quitting Smoking

Please wish me luck folks!!!!
After 40 years of smoking I need to give IT up before IT gives ME up.......

I HAVE to be honest and say the recent $1 a pack tax increase here in Wisconsin is a big factor.

As an ADDED incentive to quit and STAY quit......I bought a Nikon digital SLR camera yesterday which I will pay for with about 2 months worth of cigarette money.......

Bribery will get you everywhere.......even self bribery....... .......I'm so ashamed........ NOT.......

Well, just remember that your wife won't have to be kissing an ashtray anymore! Might be some side benefits to that..........benefits that require some staying power which can't be had when the ol' bellows are plugged up with soot!
Luck to you, Buddy!

Hang in there Craig. I quit chewing after 19 years. Just remember that after 5 days, it's your mind that's throwing the craving to you, not your body.... at least that's what they told me. I'll be "rooting" for ya!

Hey Buddy

I am proud of you. I am going to do the same thing. $450.00 for the shots but it will be well worth it. No withdrawls. They say it's a cheap drunk afterward. At $450.00, I don't see where the cheap comes in.

I hope you have very little problems with this. I know as I have tried to quit 6-8 times.

Jim

Oops! Craig's gonna be putting on weight now, especially with that chocolate. Watch it!

If they were able to say so, all my (long gone) relatives and former co-workers would tell you to stick with your plan.

In all seriousness; I once heard that when the cravings hit and you're about to reach for a ciggy, tell yourself out loud; "I am a non-smoker." S'posed to have some psychological impact, I guess. Doesn't cost anything to try and don't hurt a bit.

Good luck Craig, I quit 26 years ago cold turkey. If I can do it, you can too.

GOOD LUCK!!!
When I quit after 15 yrs of pack a day, the nicotine cravings lasted only about a week, the killer was the oral cravings; i.e. always having something in your mouth. I destroyed pencils like they were candy(less fat in a piece of wood than in chocolate!) On the occasion that I would fall off the wagon and buy a pack, don't say"I'll quit again after this pack is gone". Throw it away as soon as the guilt hits you, and it will.
Anyway, best of luck to you.
Kevin

Hello Craig,

Nothing was easier (at least much easier than I thought) than stopping after 25 years of 75 cigarettes a day. Just reed the book from Alan Carr and take a ride on a bicycle or some jogging each time you think you need a cigarette.
You will feel immediately why you decided to stop. The only real hard day was day 2.

Good luck,

Marc.

I had a bet with my Sister-in-law. If one of us started smoking again we owed the other $100.00. That was a lot of money in 1976 and we both were able to quit. Also convinced my other half to quit a few years later. Good luck Craig. The Doctors love it when you tell them you quit smoking.

Good Luck Craig..... A slight dose of Diesel Smoke or Carbon Monoxide and you will be Fine... They do say that there is Carbon Monoxide in Cigarett smoke....

I never could quit... But I never started either....

I have a friend who is a recovering addict, both dope and booze. He is taking it MINUTE BY MINUTE a lot of the time.

An addiction is an addiction, be it to your Marlboros or meth. My understanding is that an addiction isn't "gotten over", rather it needs to be replaced with something else.........hopefully more healthy. I ain't gonna tell you to chew on a carrot each time you'd reach for a ciggy, just find something else to do.

We're pullin' for ya, and we're already proud of you.
