Hmm, no engines??? Based on the location stated it sounds like "Gary's Implements", 2 miles up from the intersection listed. "Bridgeport Tractor" is pretty much at that intersection. Both amazing places, I was up through there last year. Apparently Gary has some engines stashed away, I asked when I stopped in but Gary was out of town. I was on my way to get a couple FBM's in Gordon, NE, the guy had a hot-rod JD B pulling tractor, he said both places were "very proud of their stuff" in terms of money.

I'm about 3-4 hours away in Fort Collins, CO but not interested in tractors, too bad there are no engines that I can see on the inventory page.

There is an extensive discussion on Lugs and Cleats regarding this situation under Bridgeport auction.

How do you expect them to know what a gas engine is? They haven't figured out what a tractor is yet.

The 1 thing they do know is how to snag an auction. I wont go to any of there auctions not after all that went on there.

Ken,Kruse has done engine auctions before.
I'm afraid this fiasco has all the ear marks of a real dog fight.
Attenders are likely to see some practices that would make them double take.Makes me think of a couple a gold miners fightn' over a claim. In the end all they have is a scatter of dust.

Well there is a real discussion on the Red Power Forum over this auction as well, and I agree with what is being said, they are charging a $10.00 gate fee and then a buyers premium of 10 to 15 % which is a tad rich, a few more people need to boycott and stay away from auctions like this to show the crooked auctioneers they won't be tolerated, either that or everyone go and bid low, keep things at way under value and make them scream....

But trying to get a crowd of people to stick together like that anymore is a thing of the past in most cases..!!

Just my 2 cents

Brian

Thumbs down Re: Largest auction of mankind..

I wonder if they are going to pull what I saw at a recent auction - all the mags and starting cranks were pulled off the engines. The mags were set in groups of 10, and sold 2 ways, both individually, and as a group. Which ever brought the most money was the way they went. Same with the cranks. Most engines were all original, or recent restorations, and all parts were removed right before the sale. The original local advertising said 'running engines. A little hard to run without a mag, doncha think

I've been seeing this grouping thing alot at recent auctions too. At the New London Missouri auction last year, they acutioned the Advance steamer, after-market water tank and threasher separately, then offered them as a group. Sometimes it makes sense, like in that case where the traction enigine and implements had spent a good portion of their working life together, but most times this does not make sense.

I refuse to go to a Kruse auction..... wayyyyy back when, they did the Marhanka auction over in Dowagiac, MI.... if any of you were there... they were cluesless about tractors and more importantly clueless about the old iron guys like us who brought their hard earned money. I remember Oscar Cooke was there and after some frustrating early bad rounds of bidding, the Kruse auctioneer made a really STUPID comment about those present to buy. Oscar had more than a few words with him, and after a short break, things actually started to sort of sell. But Kruse left a really bitter taste in lots of mouths, including mine.... and entry fees, and buyers fees.... do they not follow the economy either.... just another 2 cents worth from cold, snowy, economically miserable Michigan

Ken, there are some engine pictures on the aumann site, look through the "Featured Photos" link. Relative to the amount of tractors, the amount of engines they taken pictures of is very, very, small.
