Default Draft horse farmers?

Hi all,
Any draft horse farmers here? The never ending quest for horse powered machinery, horse pulled equipment and 'stuff' never ends.

Just came upon a warehouse with some Frick 'horse powers' in it. Military storage! There is more stuff stored there than one can imagine. I can't get any of it, but it is neat to know about. Hopefully the photos will come out okay. Then I will post them.
Old mule shoes, shoeing stocks, cavalry forges......cool stuff.

Looking for a wooden thresher, smaller type.

Most respectfully,
Mike Rock

Mike, there is a Westinghouse, horsepower thresher, in a barn about 3 miles from me. The problem is, like the things you found, so far I've not been able to aquire it. I've been after it nearly 15 yrs now. I'm not sure if the horse power is there or not. Its been a few yrs since I have been back there, to the barn its in.
Also there are a lot of folks around here going back to draft horses. I plan to have a plow day here at my place in late April/early May, for the tractor club, but it seems the horse people are showing more interest than the tractor people are.
Guess we can have both in the same field.

We have had horses come to our plow day for years. They usually lay out there own land and it is great to watch.

I have heard there is a place in Iowa that you can get old horse equipment from.Maybe someone from that state could give you more information.

There are two sales in Iowa that are held in the spring and fall. One sale is at Waverly, Iowa and the other is at Kalona, Iowa. I've never been to the Waverly sale. I go to the Kalona horse sale almost each month as well as the special draft sale in spring and fall. I received my card from Kalona yesterday and the sale is held this year on April 13 and 14. They sell horsedrawn equipment on Monday the 13th starting at 9:00 a.m. They sell machinery first then buggys wagons etc. You can find their site by typing in Kalona Sales Barn. Their site will come up and you can go from there to find the dates for Waverly. It is usually a week or so before Kalona. Hope this helps. 2Belgians

We have held a horse pull on the opening night of our steam rally the past two years. Doing it again this year. Thursday 6 PM Sept 10, 2009.

We don't think it has drawn enough extra admissions to pay the prize money but we think it is a good addition to our show. NY state horse pulling association gets the team there. Had about 30 teams last year.

It was a tough decision whether to run the the horse pull another year or not. The board had no majority either way so we took it to the member meeting. One guy said "our name is Gas and Steam it doesn't say horse." Brenda, who is one of my gate people and also a good cook who always brings something good to our pot luck meetings, said "our mission is to preserve agriculture equipment and that included horses and besides that she said how many tractor pulls can you enjoy in four days here. The horse pull was a great change."
My thought was you don't have to cover your ears like you do for the souped up tractors.

Yep there are horse farmers here. Ive had the horse habit 25 years.Do you have any horse powers. I have three ,two are restored. If you like horse drawn machinery, visit the Apple River Ill. show. Its the only all horse antique power show I know of.Labor day weekend . They have a ten and twelve horse power threshing,a bunch of smaller powers grinding feed, and running a grain elevator, bailing etc. Also plowing and field work with every conceivable tillage tool. Just over the Ill. boarder.
