Default Posting on Smoke and Flames

We shovel a lot of BS and blow a lot of gas here on smoke and flames, most of which is good humored and well intentioned. When it slips down the slippery slope and spatters onto other Smokstak users, trouble happens. Americans appear to be made up of 15% ultra-liberal, 15% ultra-conservative and 70% of us are in the middle. Varying opinions are exposed and everybody has one. Don't forget that this is an antique engine web site and remember, POLITICS, RELIGION and ECONOMICS are topics that are best served elsewhere on the web. Your exposed opinions may or may not remain on this board and when war breaks out, threads (and users) may vaporize!

Personal attacks on other Smokstak users are outright cause for termination.

Back in 1995 when I first joined the internet, I was on a thing called "USENET." That was a primitive form of a text bulletin board for the ENTIRE internet where war broke out every day. This was before there were .com .org or .net domain names! One of the most important pieces of advice handed out then was, "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, but nobody wants to see the other's." In the above mentioned subjects, this is great advice.

Just friendly conversation about this and that.

That is what the header says. It is not hard to understand but seems hard to enforce. I must think some people think "this and that" can be this but not that or that but not this. Jeff

Thanks for the notice. We hope its for every Smokstaker.

The last year we have seen a lot of (too Much) talking about politics, religion and economics here on Smokstak and that's not what Smokstak is for.

It's more for the people who like their hobby or history of their hobby and the people that want to show it to everybody.

Clemens Bros.
