Could you post some picture of the internals of the mag. Normally there is not much wiring in a mag, but since this in a aircraft/military one it may be some what differant than the F-M tractor mags I am familiar with.

thank kent i will try to get a picture, my newphew will do it for me. there is three wire fron the coil , one is a gound, the other must got to the condenser , or point,s , does the point,s have a wire to the condense, then to the mag, coil, can you give me a direction on this. i know a car set, up but not a mag. this mag has a set of point, and condensor, the condensor show a resistin on the multimeter, is that normal, have you been to lambert,s resturant in your state. thank,s wendell in tn.

Wendell:
First, the condenser should show as a completely open circuit. If it shows any less than infinity, it's bad. I can say what I think the three wires go to. One of the wires is obviously ground and it should have a low resistance circuit to one of the other wires and a high resistance circutit to the other. The other lead that has a low resistance to what you found was the ground wire goes to the points and the "hot" lead of the condenser. The "can" of the condenser goes to ground. The third lead, or the one that has a high resistance reading to the ground lead, goes to the spark plug or distributor center lead. I hope this helps. thank you elden i been work on the magneto about a half day. well she got a shock now, i check out the condenser like you said too.it was bad, so i found another one , and put it in the mag. also i made up a wire for the point to the condenser, that was missing, the coil had three wire coming out of it, ones is ground , the other 2 went to the condenser, also ther is a metal tab coming out of the coil, the dist. cap fit aginst the tab, when i turn the shaft now that tab will shock you. happy happy. next is to install and crank,s engine , so hope it work,s so thank you elden, and kent for help out. i hope to go to the show, in both your, state,s . tractor show, and military vehicle,s show, i got 4 halftrack and jeep, 5ton semi, all ww2. they got picture,s on g503 jeep wendell in tn. retired army

Yes, I have been to Lamberts. It is in Ozark, MO which is about 30 miles south of me.

I think the points and capacitor connect to the same wire, or at least the same point on the coil. I would also guess there is a wire that connects to the outside of the mag for the kill switch. It would be grounded to short out the points and kill the engine. Don
