Photo Introduction of me and Maytag 92 tiller

Hello all, my name is Steven and I live in Fort Mohave, AZ. I'm originally from southwestern ND where my Dad has a farm. I've been collecting antiques for 17 years (since I was 10) and am just getting back into after a few years off.

My most recent purchase and project is this Maytag 92 that came on a home-made contraption of a tiller for $15 at an auction sale. Dad bought a 1950 Farmall C at the same sale...

Currently rounding up the parts to get it back together and running. Piston and cylinder look good/fit nicely. Just need cleaning. The only thing I need to find yet (I think) is some new main bushings, two out of the three pull right out by hand and aren't real tough to turn when installed. The crankshaft fits pretty loose, but I'm getting a better one soon along with a better connecting rod.

Read through quite a few of the posts on the five pages here and have already learned quite a bit from them. Looking forward to hearing some pops and seeing smoke soon!

I have 2 blocks with crankshafts installed and nice and tight bushings in them. You can have one of them if you want. Just pay shipping.

It would be neat if you got it running and left it as close to original as possible on the tiller. Even leave the automotive coil on. It is a very interesting piece of homegrown engineering. There are thousand of Maytags all cleaned up and restored but I have never seen anything like you have there. I bet you would attract some attention with it.

Yeah, I still have that home-made tiller. Thinking about leaving the engine in its work clothes once I get it running and try that thing out in the garden! LOL

Probably end up with automotive coil either way as there is no coil with it and they don't seem to be plentiful... figured with as many as are out there that someone would be reproducing/rewinding these to beat the band!

Anyone know the best place for a set of rings?
