Photo New acquisitions ( 28VDC APU's)

My trailer (small open cargo trailer, not mobile home) got attacked by more gov't surplus equipment yesterday.

I just got three 28VDC APU's, one MEP-026C (28V @ 107A), and two D.C. 4.2 ORD/28 (28V @ 150A / 4.2 KVA).

Here are all the pix:
http://gdx.dynalias.com/ebay/pix/Generators/scaled/

The MEP-026A has 213 hours on it, the one ORD 4.2 has only 25 hours. The other ORD is missing the hour meter. The ORD missing the hour meter is also stuck, and will be needed some kerosene/marvel mystery oil TLC, the other two turn fine, but will probably need carb cleanup/rebuilds.

Both models have the venerable 4A032-II flat-4 engine. The MEP-026A was built in '69, the engines on the ORD's are both built in '76, but the nicer genset has a 1986 build-date on its tag.

Other interesting factoids on these, the genend ORD 4.2's are actually rated for up to 300A (as can be seen on its tag).

These would make awesome units as cloudy/windless day chargers for alternative energy off-grid power systems.

I also picked up 7 200A/28VDC genheads as well!

Those are sturdy looking sets, what are you going to use then for?
I have a MEP-025A I will use if ever needed to charge the batteries of my 1953 Dodge M37 3/4 ton truck which has a 24V elec. system, but I don't use it much as the batteries have never died and the truck starts every time without the genset being used.
You have a lot of amps there and I was just intrested to know why you need so much 28v power.
