Default Petters 110V DC 4kW Searchlight Generator

Something a bit out of the ordinary came home on Saturday, it's a 1941 flat twin 730cc (44cu in approx) generator, built in 1941 for running a small portable arc searchlight. 8bhp at 1800rpm, similar to the CCK Onans, but not as compact.

Haven't had a lot of time to do anything yet, but there's a page of pictures on our websites at:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/die...erPU8Menu1.htm

or

http://www.stationary-engine.co.uk/P...erPU8Menu1.htm

More info when we get into restoration.

The first job will be to strip down to the frame and get that shot blasted, Zinc sprayed and repainted, then we'll rebuild it and sort out the small items that need repair/reconditioning.

As with most of these ex-Govt units, it doesn't appear to have done a lot of work, so hopefully most of the mechanicals shouldn't need much repair work doing on them.
