Default 2 stroke mix for Hit and Miss?

A friend of mine gave me a couple gallons of typical 2 stroke engine mix, it is 87 octane and Walmart's brand of 3-stroke oil but he couldn't remember the mix ration whether it was 32-1 or 50-1. My small hit and miss engine will run fine on straight 87 octane but I am hoping it will run on this mix I was given. Before I put this in the tank have any of you guys run a two cycle mix in a hit and mix and was were the results...power loss?, slower running? anything different other than I might expect other than a little exhaust smoke. Thanks

Run it, I doubt if you will ever be able to tell the difference except for the smell and maby a little smoke but the newer stuff doesn't smoke much anyway. I run out all the time and have to use my mixed fuel, have probably had some in every gasoline engine I have. It seems to last a little longer in the can too.

Flasks:

If you don't like the smoke or smell, just dilute it a few times with straight pump gasoline and you should minimize the irritation.

Take care - Elden
