I,ll try to get a picture of the engine if i find the time. When the cars all painted it's going to be a creamy yellow color with a big white circle on the door with a racing number.

Decided on a different engine for the Mustang, a 350 Ford 8 cylinder.

If it aint a "FORD" Clevland 351 or maybe a Windsor 351, 302 or 289 its "SACROLIDGE"

If you want a 350 Chev get a Camaro !!!

Hi Chris;
If you have a 1966 Ford Mustang with a V8 engine, if it was a "small block" it would be a 289. Big block engines were not common but if it is, they would be a 390 or the 428.
The 351 was built in two variations, the Windsor which looked like the 289 except stroked, and the Cleveland which was totaly different engine. These were NOT introduced until the late 60's .
A Chevrolet engine? in your Mustang, somebody did a swap before you got it. Chevy had a good 350 engine, but I doubt you have this.
Go to some book store and buy a couple of manuals on the Mustang and that would help you greatly in engine identification.
Your doing a great job! Read, ask questions and hang around "us" old guys and you can learn alot. I know becuase I learned from them myself, but now I find I am an old guy!

351 Windsor is a lovely engine, powerfull, light, revs well but watch the screwy firing order ! They have a different firing order to all the other Windsor small blocks and the fact that the camshafts can be changed with a 302 so that whats writen on the manifold isn't what the engine needs to make it run right has given grief to a lot of new 351 W owners.

(much better than a Chevy )
