Corn binder knife section?

I have a Mccormick-Deering one row, ground-driven corn binder. I've been trying to locate a new sickle-knife for it and not having much luck. The old part # was c-143, which CNH says was a good #, but it is no longer available. Anyone have a NOS one laying around or know of a source for one?

Aren't they just a heavy-duty mower section? A mower knife would probaly work for demos.

I have the old one, but it's wore out, beyond what I believe would take a good sharpening. Also, it's not just for demos, I use it every year to harvest my sorghum for syrupmaking.

I'm sure you can get any parts you need for your McCormick Corn Binder from General Repair Shop located at 63 Old Leacock Rd. Ronks, Pa. 717-768-3902 or Voice Mail 717-656-1967

They even have brand new knotters. They completely rebuilt my binder with new sprockets, chains, cutter section like you're looking for and numerous other parts that were worn out. The amish still use these binders to harvest their corn in Lancaster, County.

Yep, I don't know why I didn't call them in the first place. I bought my wood and also a replacement binder dog from them, already. I called 'em up this afternoon and they said they'd get me one right out.

Thought I'd post another update pic.
Just a few loose ends to tie up and I'll be ready for a test run in the corn field. Before I tore it down, it worked rather well, only it wouldn't always lock out after each bundle. It would make one nice full one, then it would just keep cycling. Sometimes you would have a good full one, then you'd get 1 stalk. BUT, the knotter worked SO well, even the one stalk eould have a good knot on it. I replaced the lock-out dog while I had it apart, so I hope that fixed it.

This should probably be a new thread but I need some help. I have the same corn binder as this thread. My problem is that it won't bind correctly. It will tie great but then the needle will go back and stop at the knotter. Of course corn backs up behind the needle and the whole thing plugs up. I replaced the dog on the driving disk (clutch) but it still goes around and some times stops and other times just continues around. Any ideas?

Is your corn Binder a McCormick-Deering or a McCormick. I have a McCormick and just learned the difference. I don't have grease fittings on mine.

I am new to this forum and a new owner of a corn binder. I realize this is an old thread but it ends with a question that I need to know the answer to in order to start my restoration project. My corn binder has only International harvester insignias and a nameplate CB 702. I would like to obtain a manual but need to know which one. It seems that McCormick Corn Binders have IH insignias as well which leads to my confusion. I would appreciate any advice and information pertaining to identifying which model I have and any tips in general. I plan to use this corn binder to harvest Sweet Sorghum for Syrup making.
